Faye Tunnicliffe and Nondumiso Shangase lead the names among the Class of 2025 for the SA Emerging Academy. Tunnicliffe was one of the leading run scorers for WSB Western Province in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series. Nondumiso Shangase was a consistent performer for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the Pro Series. Both players have international experience, having represented South Africa.
Shangase is currently with the Proteas side in Sri Lanka, participating in the tri-series that consists of India and Sri Lanka. Faye, on the other hand, is currently with the SA Emerging side in Bangladesh. She is joined by Jenna Evans, Alex Candler, Gandhi Jafta, Verunissa Reddy, Luyanda Nzuza, Leah Jones, and Mona-Lisa Legodi, among the players in Bangladesh.
“The Emerging Academy remains a cornerstone of our development pathway, providing a high-performance platform to identify, nurture, and upskill the most promising talent in South African cricket,” said CSA Head of High Performance, Grant van Velden.
“It’s incredibly exciting to welcome such a gifted group of youngsters from U19 and provincial cricket into this elite environment.” Former SA U19 captains Oluhle Siyo and Kayla Reyneke did not make the Bangladesh team, but they are part of the 2025 Academy intake. Siyo, who currently plays with Reyneke at Western Province, was part of the Academy in 2024 as well.
Fast bowler Caitlin Wyngaard joins her provincial team in the 2025 intake, making Western Province the team with the most contributions of 5 players. Fidelity Titans wicketkeeper batter Tebogo Macheke is also part of the intake, as one of two wicketkeepers, with the Knights wicketkeeper Reddy.
Teenagers Miane Smit and Seshnie Naidu finish up the 2025 intake. Both players are currently with the Proteas squad in Sri Lanka, and both players are set to play a match in the tri-series.
